A unique methodology

At 42 Barcelona, you’ll prepare to become one of the top tech professionals on the market. You’ll gain the skills to learn everything you need and develop with ease in any language and/or technology that exists or will exist.

To this end, 42 offers its Programming Course. A 2- to 4½-year programme where you’ll learn to navigate with confidence in a constantly evolving technological world. This programme is divided into two blocks:

1. Fundamentals or Common Core:

This block lasts approximately 12 to 18 months and is divided into seven levels, through which you’ll discover the various fundamentals of programming.

Throughout this block, you’ll explore different programming languages such as C, JavaScript and Python.

2. Specialisation or Outer Core:

This block lasts approximately 4–5 years and consists of a range of projects organised by theme, in which you’ll have complete autonomy to decide what you want to learn. During the second block, you’ll be able to undertake two work placements that will contribute to your professional development; furthermore, all course content is continuously updated to adapt to the demands of the technology sector, such as the creation of new specialisations as new technologies and languages emerge.

  • Cybersecurity: You will learn about various vulnerabilities that different systems may face, such as: buffer overflows, SQL injections, man-in-the-middle attacks, DoS… You will even go so far as to develop your own viruses.
  • Operating Systems: You will have the opportunity to create your own operating system from scratch, complete with its own kernel.
  • ML & AI: You will discover various machine learning algorithms and be able to develop your own neural network.
  • Web Development: You’ll replicate various existing web services such as Tinder or Instagram.
  • Mobile: You’ll use Kotlin, Swift and other languages to develop mobile applications.
  • Graphics & Video Games: You’ll have access to various graphics projects, ranging from developing Doom to creating your own version of Photoshop, using graphics libraries such as OpenGL, SDL2, Godot, Unity and Unreal Engine.
  • Cryptography: You’ll develop the most commonly used cryptographic algorithms, both symmetric and asymmetric.
